Marmalade win top insurance award for ‘innovation’

Article by: Martin Scholes on 2013-09-16

Young driver insurance provider Marmalade has won the ‘innovation’ title at the prestigious UK Broker Awards this month.

The Peterborough-based company beat other contenders to the top title with its groundbreaking insurance products for young drivers.

Impressed with Marmalade, judges described the company as ‘a forward thinker, providing best solutions to a specified niche’.

Crispin Moger, managing director of Marmalade said: “We are very proud to have won this national award and to yet again receive recognition for our work within the young driver sector.”

The company offers three bespoke products for 17-24yr olds – learner insurance, allowing provisional licence holders to get extra learning in their parents’ car; telematics-based cover – a black box which rewards good driving with lower premiums; and a car and insurance purchase scheme for new and nearly new vehicles.

“Learning to drive is a rite of passage for all young people if they want it. But traditionally, this age group has been a challenge to the motor insurance industry. Our products have been created with both safety and cost-effectiveness in mind and they are proving a popular solution for more and more young drivers and their families,” Crispin added.

The ceremony attracted over 500 of the industry’s leading figures to celebrate the best the industry has to offer.

Now in their 20th year, the UK Broker Awards are still the UK’s only broker-focused insurance industry awards, recognising both excellence and innovation in this sector.
