Article by: Martin Scholes on 2013-04-24

The road transport industry showed off its best side at April’s Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham.

The largest and most comprehensive road transport event in Britain, across three days the show saw over 18,000 people visit more than 430 exhibitors. The number of visitors indicates a significant increase in attendance of 11.6% on the 2012 show, with customers and exhibitors from all over Europe coming to network, connect and do business.

IRTE Services, the trading arm of the Society of Operations Engineers (SOE) is a founding partner of the CV Show, and SOE chief executive Nick Jones says: “This year’s CV Show radiated energy and enthusiasm. With bookings up on 2012, our industry is significantly contributing to economic growth through efficient and sustainable processes.

“As a founding partner of the CV Show, IRTE also welcomes the fact that exhibitors are now placing as much emphasis on the skills of engineering professionals as they do on products and services.”

IRTE launched the irtec Master Technician licence at the show, its latest addition to the technician accreditation scheme. Aimed at the top technicians in road transport, the new licence level has a focus on high-level technical skills and communication, with a view to growing the managers of the future.

Jones says: “Once again the CV Show has proven itself to be of significant value to an industry that is working tirelessly to rebuild, develop and innovate.”

The Commercial Vehicle Show is owned by the CV Show LLP comprising the Road Haulage Association, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders and IRTE Services Ltd, the trading company of SOE.
