CTEK launches college training partnership scheme
Article by: Martin Scholes on 2013-11-08

CTEK, a leading global brand in the care and maintenance of vehicle batteries, has launched a College Training Partnership. Designed to provide automotive college students with the opportunity to improve battery knowledge and understanding; the scheme is already proving popular with colleges keen to address this hot topic.

As part of the College Training Partnership, lecturers receive a hands-on practical demonstration and formal briefing on; battery technology, approaches to battery charging & maintenance and advice & guidance on how best to support the battery during vehicle servicing & maintenance. Students are also delivered a similar training session, either by a CTEK trainer or the College Lecturer and also trained on how to use battery testers & chargers – in some cases the use of battery charging & testing equipment is actually being incorporated into the curriculum. The first four colleges to sign up to the partnership are Hartlepool College, Coleg Cambria, Cornwall College and the National Motorsport College (Silverstone).

Tony Zeal, Business Development Manager from CTEK said “We cannot ignore the demands that complex vehicle technologies are placing on workshops. This is a great opportunity for CTEK to get across this message to the next generation of vehicle technicians, gather valuable feedback to inform future product development whilst also getting our award winning products into their hands. So far the programme has been really well received and we look forward to a long and successful relationship with the colleges and their students.”

Darren Hankey from Hartlepool College said “Having effective relationships and partnerships with organisations such as CTEK is hugely important.  CTEK’s contribution to the College’s automotive curriculum cannot be overstated – the students get the chance to work with and on industry standard equipment and this experience enriches the students’ learning experience.”
